Heat the oil in a large frying pan set over the high flame. Add prawns ( peeled and deveined) and cook it just for 2-3 mins, make sure they are cooked through evenly on both sides until pink. After 3 mins remove them from the pan and keep them aside. Meanwhile, put the roughly chopped onion, chopped garlic, ginger, and chilies in a blender and blended them until getting a smooth paste.
In the same pan add curry leaves and smooth paste. Cook it for 5-6mins, until starting to turn golden. Add grounded or powder cumin and turmeric and stir well to combine.
Now add 2 Tbsp of tomato puree, stir well. Add 1/2 cups of cold water and yellow split peas. Let the mixture boil for 5mins, then reduce the flame and cover it. Cook it for 20-25mins, until the peas are just tender and mixture has thickened.
After 25mins, it is time to add cooked prawn to the pan, add salt and pepper and cook it for 2-3mins. After 3mins most delicious prawn and yellow split curry are ready to serve. Garnish with the freshly chopped coriander.
